Exactly six months ago, my former colleague Bashar Fahmi was travelling on assignment in Syria when he was caught in a crossfire that led to the death of another journalist. Bashar and his cameraman were kidnapped. While the cameraman was released two days later, nobody seems to know anything about Bashar’s whereabouts.
His friends and family have put up a Facebook page in his honor.
For nearly 10 years, Bashar Fahmi has been working out of Turkey as a reporter for Alhurra TV. He’s also a husband and a father. Bashar was working to report on the situation in Syria. He needs to be released. He’s a good person and does not deserve this.
My thoughts and prayers are with Bashar and his family. I hope we get the chance to speak soon.
