Am I the only one who has had enough of this stupid new ‘dance’ craze?!
I’ll admit to being a bit of a hater, having not yet created some viral internet fad that might earn me some money and exposure to facilitate early retirement. But the bottom line is that most of the shakes we’ve been seeing lately are pure crap. Some of them are a little bit funny.
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m a bit envious. Maybe you’re better off forgetting you ever read this than you would be going to Google.
The ‘Harlem shake’ as it’s known is supposed to be a 30 second ‘dance’ that starts off with one person moving slowly to a stupid dance song for the first 15 seconds, the beat then picks up and that person is joined by several other gyrating fools. Occasionally, the end result is worth a chuckle, but 9 times out of 10, it’s utterly idiotic.
For some strange reason, protestors in Tunisia and Egypt have started doing this stupid dance too. While it will no doubt increase their media coverage (especially in the US), nobody in their countries will take them any more seriously, least of all the people they’re hoping to reach with their protests.
But the stupidity prize goes to Frontier Airlines for allowing one of these pathetic Harlem shake sessions on one of it’s planes while it was in mid-flight. The FAA is now investigating the airline, one I’ve never flied and certainly never plan to. A spokesperson for the airline says “all safety measures were followed and the seat belt sign was off.” What a relief!
Perhaps the saddest line of this CNN writeup is attributed to so-called experts who say, “a Harlem shake dance could also be used by terrorists to divert a crew’s attention.”
