From Miami to MIA (in Doha)

It’s been a few weeks since I returned from my monthlong stint in the sandpit. It’s hot in Miami right now, but not nearly as hot as it was in Doha!

I didn’t spend much time outside – mostly from the car to the building and vice versa.

The only day I spent ‘considerable’ time outdoors was when I went to the Museum of Islamic Art (aka MIA). I started off by touring the air-conditioned interior. I wasn’t in there to take pictures, but I couldn’t help myself from taking a few.

The museum also has nice views of the Doha skyline, and I was definitely looking forward taking some pictures from the outdoor terraces around sunset.

Sadly, I wasn’t alone. While some people unknowingly made for decent models, I wished others would just get out of my way! Everyone has a cellphone these days.

These were taken with my Fuji X100F. I would have taken something bigger when I left Miami, but I was worried about the fate of my gear in the face of the US electronics ban. Of course, that was lifted halfway through my trip. This little camera held its own.

Overall, it was a good trip and time well spent. But I was very happy when the plane finally touched down back in MIA. There’s good and bad in everything. For now I’m good.
